In order to search gamertags on TGS you need to register to create an account. Once you've registered and confirmed your email address you're free to search for your rank and any of your friends ranks.

TGS ranks players based on their Kill/Death ratio on two leaderboards, Standard and Arena. In order to be ranked on the leaderboards a player must complete at least 25 games in a given board type. This helps level out a players average Kill/Death ratio.

Bungie has not yet released the arena ratings and TGS plans to rank the arena board based on arena ratings once available.
